How My Business Coaching Works
As most of us are "visual", I figured I'd explain how my coaching works by way of a flow chart:

90 minute business analysis
This is our first meeting where we go through your current challenges, get an idea of where you want to take the business and then look at the strategies we’d apply specifically to your business to improve your results. All business challenges are either time, team or money related – and if we’re really unlucky, all three! Therefore it’s important I get from you information relating to the business before we get together so we can make the most of our time together.
This analysis is complimentary and without any on-going obligation. All I ask is if at the end of our meeting I am able to recommend a suitable coaching program, you are prepared to give a yes or no answer.
Alignment Consultation
This where we get clear on your personal goals and align then what needs to be done in the business to achieve them. We also get clear on what you’ve done in the past (good or otherwise!) and work out the key strategies to take the business forward. The result of this process becomes the roadmap for the coaching program.
Mastery
It is important we check the foundations of the business are strong before we “ramp” up the growth – we’ve all seen examples where rapid growth has seen businesses go out of business even faster!! Therefore, the 3 areas we need to make sure we have Mastery over at the very beginning is:
- Time – am I (the owner) using my time in the most productive fashion – is 'chasing your tail' an expression you find yourself using?
- Money – do you know the contribution margins of your products and services, how's your debtors list looking, do you know your breakeven, do you have regular financial reports etc?
- Delivery – is my product or service being delivered in a consistent fashion and at a level which delights my customers?? Do they understand my value proposition – do I for that matter?
Mastery in these 3 areas will take the business from Chaos to Control. Many businesses I coach have these areas mastered when we begin but we certainly need to check-in first.
Setting Business KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
This is where we uncover the “existing gold” in your business by defining what are the 2 or 3 key areas or drivers of the business, start measuring them, then put the right strategies in place to grow in a sustainable fashion. All business growth challenges come from either being Sales constrained or Productivity constrained (or sometimes a bit of both!) and I have found there are less than 10 major KPI's for all business, of which 1 or 2 will apply directly to yours.
